Best Place to Grab a Half-Gallon of Beer

Thirsty Thursdays at Thirsty Dog Brewery

If beer is man's best friend (and it most certainly is), then Cleveland's ultimate brew companion would have to be the inexpensive, exquisite tasting, gorgeous-looking half-gallon growler from Thirsty Dog Brewing Company. Every Thursday you can actually visit the Thirsty Dog on Grant Street in Akron and buy the cheapest, tastiest soulmate in town (most Growlers go for only $8). Simply get yourself buzzed in through a suspicious-looking door, and some grizzled factory hand will fill a tall, curvy, golden growler bottle (that's more than five beers) with any number of the microbrewery's canine concoctions: Cerberus Belgian Tripel, Labrador Lager, Siberian Night, Stud Service Stout, Hoppus Maximus, or (our favorite) Old Leghumper. The cost of the initial growler is $5 (plus beer), and it's cash only, folks. But you can refill that tall one as many times as you like; Monday-Saturday regular growler fills are $11-14 — still the cheapest date in town.
