The Chargers Street Gang

Although the Chargers have yet to release their first album, this Cleveland band has already established a reputation based on its frenetic live shows, which often teeter on sheer chaos. Equal parts New York Dolls and Sex Pistols, the Chargers mix garage rock and punk sensibilities; as their alter ego, the Ashton Bros. From Way Back When, they do a mean set of Stooges covers. They recruited Monkey Wrench guitarist Tim Kerr (the Makers, April March, Mooney Suzuki) to produce their first album, Holy the Bop Apocalypse, which is due out in October on Columbus's Get Hip Records. After a recent out-of-town tour with Rocket From the Crypt, the group is starting to make believers out of other regional markets as well.
