Andrew Rannells has steadily kept himself busy by acting on Broadway and loaning his voice for TV shows. But the audition that landed him the role of Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys made his stomach butterflies flutter. "This process is pretty unique in that Bob and Frankie Valli are both at your audition," says Rannells. "So I auditioned to play Bob in front of Bob, which was a little nerve-racking."The touring production of the Tony Award-winning musical — which opens tonight at Playhouse Square — tells the story of the Four Seasons' rise to international stardom. Cast members resemble the quartet so perfectly that gals in the audience have been known to throw their underwear onstage. As for the dudes, they like to get a behind-the-scenes peek at the group's success. "We've had many men tell us that they hate musicals, that they didn't want to come, and how their wives bought the tickets," says Rannells. "But they loved it, and they're the ones that come back with more of their friends later in the run." Showtime is at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sundays at the State Theatre, 1519 Euclid Avenue. Tickets are $24.50 to $130.
