Billy Joe Shaver/Chuck Mead

When: Wed., Sept. 25, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $25
A true country outlaw who spent his youth hanging with Willie and Waylon, Billy Joe Shaver is a classic American singer and songwriter. Now seventysomething years old, the guy still has it. During a two-hour show last year at the Beachland Ballroom, he regaled the crowd with off-color stories about his troubled past as he pulled from his extensive catalogue of ballads, country rockers, and honky tonk anthems. Expect to hear classic old-school country tunes such as “Heart of Texas,” a track he originally recorded with Waylon Jennings and “I Been to Georgia on a Fast Train” along with stories from his various exploits (he once shot a man outside a bar in Texas).
