Blast From the Past

At today's FallFest: 18th Century Festival at the Cleveland Metroparks, you'll get to see what people did before plasma TVs and iPods. Attractions include candlemaking, fresh cider, and folk songs. Reenactors will also stage scenes from the Revolutionary War, complete with old-fashioned weapons and food that tastes like leather. There are tons of demonstrations and hands-on activities — from butter-churning to quilt-making — to keep Mom and Dad occupied, while little ones can make decorative ornaments and fruit-based toys, like a doll constructed out of an apple. Mud in Yer Eye brings the noise, 18th-century-style. "Everyone here is just so happy to teach people about our history," says spokeswoman Kelly McGinnis.
