Chappelles Show vet
Paul Mooney returns to Cleveland this weekend, and things have changed since the last time he was in town. For one thing, Michael Richards infamous onstage n-word rant a few months ago prompted Mooney -- who created and portrayed Chappelles popular Negrodamus character -- to omit the epithet from his repertoire. [Richards] cured me, he says. Hes my Dr. Phil.
These days, Mooney prefers to riff on the do-gooders behind the recent Live Earth concert. The white man is trying to get people to help save the planet, he says. He didnt need nobodys help to fuck it up! Im not helping him. When I leave my house, I turn on the water, the lights -- everything.
