For this month’s installment of Brews & Prose, you’ll get to see a fabulist fiction writer named Tessa Mellas read from a critically acclaimed debut collection of short stories. Mellas is a former synchronized figure skater, so here’s hoping at least one story centers on that. Also on the docket is Brad Ricca, a name you’ve probably heard. He’s the guy who wrote Super Boys, the newish biography of Joe Schuster and Jerry Siegel, the Clevelanders who created Superman (and who also served as the inspiration for Michael Chabon’s Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay). Brews & Prose, as always, will be held in the lower level of Market Garden Brewery on West 25th Street at 7 tonight. Drinking robustly is encouraged. (Allard)
