The Cleveland Public Library’s Ohio Center for the Book and Popular Library collaborate today to discuss Walter Mosley’s painfully human novel Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned. The discussion is the last installment of this summer’s Brown Bag Book Club, a group dedicated to exposing human rights issues through award-winning literature, and try to dive into Mosley’s hard-to-talk-about read. The novel follows an ex-con Socrates Fortlow, released after serving 27 years in prison for murder and rape. He meets a young man, a mirror of himself, who’s falling down the same rabbit hole Fortlow had decades before. The two share stories, wisdom and faith as they guide each other to redemption. The novel was the Cleveland Foundation’s Anisfield-Wolf Book Award in 2009 and will be discussed at noon on the first floor of the main library. (Rees)
