Bruce Almighty

When: Sat., July 19 2014
Sam Raimi’s cult-horror classic Army of Darkness screens tonight at midnight at the Capitol Theatre as part of the Melt Bar & Grilled Late Shift movie series. Raimi’s third installment of the Evil Dead franchise follows the ’80s camp classics Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 and finds Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams transported back in time to the 1300s, where he must retrieve the Necronomicon Ex-mortis (an ancient Sumerian text), and battle an army of the dead to do so, before he can return home. The Late Shift movies, at $5 a pop, are always a blast, and this one’s got plenty of Raimi’s trademark horror slapstick to go around. Watch the first two beforehand at a friend’s house and make an evening out of it. Eh? Eh? (Allard)
