Six bucks on New Year's Eve may net you a well drink and a late-night pack of smokes while you wait for a cab in the cold. But that kind of cash will score you a spot at Viking Vineyards' alternative to tomorrow night's madness: today's New Year's Eve Eve Party. And for about $15 more, the Kent winery will sell you a bottle of one of its vintages to go along with a plate of hors d'oeuvres. "We have it early, so people can come in and celebrate the holiday, but don't have to fuss with all the traffic," says Dana Nelson, the winery's co-owner. "Or people can come relax and go on to another party." Corks start popping at 2 this afternoon at Viking Vineyards, 268 Old Forge Road in Kent. Tickets are $6, and reservations are required.
