The Camino de Santiago in northern Spain is becoming an increasingly important destination for modern pilgrimages. The Way of St. James has been a seeker's spiritual path for centuries. It's been named one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites and was declared Europe's first Cultural Route in 1987. Cleveland area residents Susan Brooks, Jan DeHaven, Laura Goyanes and Richard Reppert have walked the Camino and will be at Mac's Backs--Books on Coventry (1820 Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights) on Thursday, March 29th at 7 p.m. to share their experiences. Please come if you have walked yourself or are thinking of doing it and would like to meet fellow travelers. Susan Brooks lives in Ohio City and walked the 500 mile route last year, staying at hostels along the way. Laura Goyanes is a retired flight attendant who spent a lot of time in Spain and Jan DeHaven and Richard Reppert have both recently walked and experienced the trail. There will be a variety of books about the Camino available for purchase and this event is free and open to the public.
