Campfire Fun

When: Fri., April 1 2011

If you've ever confronted an opossum in your yard, you know they don't really play dead when threatened. You can learn about other nature myths, legends, and jokes tonight at Firestone Metro Park's Tuscarawas Meadows Area with a pair of family-friendly activities. The night steps off at 6:30 p.m. with a short 1.1-mile hike led by naturalist Maureen McGinty. That's followed at 7 by tales around the campfire with "Old Fool" Dave Gates, who will tell you about all the foolish shenanigans that occur in nature. Bring your own roasting sticks (the marshmallows will be provided), and if Mother Nature pulls a fast one, the program will be held in the shelter. The park is at 2620 Harrington Rd. in Akron.
