Candyland/Dominic Parisi

When: Fri., April 19, 9 p.m. 2013
Describing themselves as “better than the board game,” Candyland formed in 2011 and joined the ranks of countless other American EDM producers. But the co-ed duo separated itself from the rest of the amateur masses when it won not only one, but two Beatport remix contests in 2012 for its take on Bingo Players’ iconic house anthem “Rattle” and Skrillex & Damian Marley’s “Make It Bun Dem.” Along with the contest-winners, they’ve also shamelessly remixed the much-too-popular “Sandstorm” and PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” and they’ve breathed a new life into Coolio’s one-hit wonder “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which gets an obscene amount of play. But knowing that you can’t survive on remixes alone, Candyland released its debut EP Bring the Rain at the beginning of 2013, showing what they’re capable on their own. (Sam Mendez)
