Casino Night in Berea

When: Fri., June 15, 6-10 p.m. 2012
Phone: 216-227-8440
Price: $35
Attention wannabe high rollers: tonight Vegas comes to Cleveland — minus the two-hour wait on the Prospect Avenue sidewalk. The Berea Arts Fest is hosting a casino night with all the glitz and glamor of Sin City with one difference: fake cash. Attendees can gamble the night away on slot machines, black jack tables, and most other attractions available at the Horseshoe. Coordinator Rich Cihlar even hired a casino company to assist with the ambiance. “It will definitely have a festive look: that kind of posh or swanky feel, the music, the noises from slot machines. We always try to create an experience.” The real money comes into play with silent auctions, not-so-silent auctions, and raffles. Works from various local artists—like Todd Leech and Stephanie Craig—as well as Kindle Fires, flat screen TVs, and wheelbarrows full of booze serve as prizes. And even those who have yet to perfect their poker face have the chance to leave with a door prize. The evening goes from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Keller Center at St. Adalbert’s Church in Berea. Tickets are available for $35 online or at the door; food, drink, and “fun money” are included in the price. Proceeds benefit the 22nd annual Berea Arts Fest, set for September 9. 21 and over, please.
