The 25th Anniversary celebrations for the Ohio-filmed The Shawshank Redemption just keep on coming. A large festival was already held in the film's honor this August in Mansfield, Ohio, and now the film is getting a full-on national re-release.

Since its 1994 release, the hope-filled film has brought curious fans out to places like the Ohio State Reformatory and other nearby haunts to catch a glimpse of where the film was made. But with the nation-wide theater release of the Oscar-nominated movie, which kicked off Sunday, people can once again be reminded of the film's power (it's not ranked as one of the most beloved films for nothing).

Today is the final day to catch the film in theaters for the special event. Check out the Cleveland-area locations the film is playing at Fathomevents.com.

The film's glorious ending is something we can never watch enough. Check that out below:  Sign up for Scene's weekly newsletters to get the latest on Cleveland news, things to do and places to eat delivered right to your inbox.
