CD Review: Lindsey Buckingham

Seeds We Sow (Mind Kit)

For a guy who once waited 14 years between albums, the past five have been relative torrents of creativity for Lindsey Buckingham. His third album since 2006, and his sixth overall, is also his best since 1992's Out of the Cradle, the record that finally put some distance between Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac. On Seeds We Sow, he rifles through the studio like it's a playground, layering sounds, melodies, and his legendary guitar lines over some of the sweetest tunes of his career. The opening title track doesn't begin to cover it. The soft, spare finger-picking acoustic number serves as a prelude to the plugged-in charges of hook-filled pop that follow. On songs like "In Our Own Time" and "That's the Way That Love Goes," Buckingham jumps into the music with a gusto he hasn't shown since his big Mac days. — Michael Gallucci
