Censored Voices

When: Sat., Feb. 27 2016
In 1967's Six Day War, Israel defeated Egypt, Jordan and Syria, nearly tripling its size in the process. Shortly after the war, Israeli writer Amos Oz interviewed soldiers and asked them about what the experience was like. Many expressed regret for the way they handled Arab POWs. Filmmaker Mor Loushy recovered those interviews, which were partially suppressed by the Israeli Defense Forces, for his new documentary Censored Voices. He also includes segments in which veterans who are now in their seventies listen to their younger selves talk about the war. The movie makes its Cleveland premiere tonight at 7:10 at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. it shows again at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
