Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Art exhibits focus on mutation.

There are only a few days left to check out Spaces’ cool Mis-demeanor exhibit. The multimedia display features new work by 11 local and national artists, including Euclid’s Richard Fiorelli, Tsehai Johnson from Denver, and a collaboration between Houston residents Marty Magsamen and Stephan Hillerbrand. The pieces revolve around the theme of transformation; the artists -- through sculpture, photography, and video installations -- turn household items into something entirely new. The theme of mutation carries over to Spaces’ other exhibit, Evidence of Vanishing Points, in which Romanian video artist Dan Acostioaei explores his homeland’s shift from centuries-old traditions to 21st-century mores that are affected by consumerism.
