Cleveland 2021: Machine Gun Kelly Recognized as Applebee's Employee of the Month

In a brief two-minute ceremony before the dinner rush in Maple Heights Sunday evening, Applebee’s regional manager Tina Hamilton named Machine Gun Kelly as employee of the month. The award comes with an extra 15% off any appetizer this week and a cardboard plaque.

“Machine Gun Kelly really demonstrated the ideals we want all servers to embody,” said Hamilton.

The award for the former musical artist was celebrated by coworkers who noted that just two months ago they wouldn’t have envisioned its possibility.

“He called off on a Saturday night, and I heard from the dishwasher that he was written up for making himself a margarita one night, and he tried to hang a signed copy of an old headshot on the wall and our boss didn’t like that very much,” said coworker Peter Nelson. “Honestly, watching him turn things around really makes me want to raise my game.”

Calls to Kelly were not returned and a dejected manager said he hadn’t showed up for his shift after the announcement.

“There were rumors of a snapchat from Vegas of him celebrating, but I don’t believe that yet,” said Nelson.
