Why Analysis? How Detailed Knowledge of the Score Can Transform Performance Dr. Donald Watts This session discloses certain conflicts between Beethoven's written indications in his Sonatas for Piano and Cello and the practices of many contemporary players. Detailed analysis of the score can be most effective in providing new perspective. Founded in 2014, the CIM Music Theory Colloquium offers a series of lectures and discussions covering a wide variety of musical topics presented by distinguished scholars as well as CIM’s brightest students. Lectures are free and open to the public.
