Cleveland Wine Festival

When: Fri., July 29 2011
The Cleveland Wine Festival returns to Voinovich Park this weekend for the sixth year, and it's bringing more than just wine snobs and stinky cheeses. "It's not a stuffy wine-tasting event," says Mary Patton, public relations rep for the event. "It's a great opportunity for people to learn about wine." Beyond the collection of more than 270 imported, domestic, and Ohio vinos, oenophiles can dig into cooking demos, food and wine seminars, and live music. A $27 ticket ($35 at the door) gets you a souvenir glass, 10 tastings, and full access to all the entertainment, including tomorrow night's performance by the Michael Heaton Band. Not a wine fan? The Belgian Beer Café is where you want to be. Cursed with designated-driver duties? There's a $10 ticket just for you that includes two non-alcoholic drinks. Appetizers and finger foods will be for sale from La Dolce Vita, La Strada, Angelo's Pizza of Lakewood, Morton's steakhouse, and Zinc Bistro. The festival runs from 4 to 10 p.m. today and tomorrow from 3 to 9 p.m. Voinovich Park is at 800 East Ninth St.; for info and tickets, call 877-772-5425 or visit clevelandwinefestival.com. — Kerrigan
