Concert Photos: Pansy Division Brought a Night of Classic (Queer) Punk Rock to the Grog Shop

Formed in 1991 in San Francisco by Jon Ginoli, Chris Freeman, Joel Reader, and Luis Illades, Pansy Division was conceived as the first openly gay rock band featuring predominantly gay musicians. They offer a mix of pop punk and power pop focusing mainly on LGBT issues, sex and relationships, often presented in a humorous light.

Pansy Division has released seven studio albums and three B-side compilations, among other recordings.

The band kicked off the 19-song setlist with ”Fem In a Black leather Jacket,” “He’s Trouble,” “Dick of Death,” “Grove Underwearm” and “Reciprocate.”

With about 100 fans in the audience, the Grog Shop proved the ideal venue for the evening.
