Diego Garcia/J.A. Beltram

When: Tue., Dec. 10, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $10
The former frontman of post-punk outfit Elefant, Diego Garcia carries a certain amount of cred among more eclectic circles of indie rock. With his sophomore solo album hitting streets last month, the guitarist is stretching his legs and tapping into broader musical motifs and traditions. Now more than ever, Garcia is diving into his Argentine heritage and returning to the surface with hearty doffs of the cap to 1970s-era songwriting (imagine traveling troubadours, imparting the outskirts of Buenos Aires with wisdom from some far off place). Often poetic and romantic, the tunes on Paradise showcase a songwriter hitting a personal stride and feeling comfortable with his own voice. “Sunnier Days” has become somewhat of a hit off the album; give it a listen now.
