Dirty Deeds

The guy behind books such as Trainspotting and Porno, Scottish writer Irvine Welsh has written some intensely depraved novels. Director Jon S. Baird's adaptation of his 1998 novel Filth stays true to the author's sick and twisted sensibilities. It stars James McAvoy as a Scottish cop who's as dirty as they come. It's a tough one to sit through as the sex and violence is excessive, but McAvoy shows his range and revels in the part. It screens tonight at 9:15 and tomorrow night at 9:15 at the Mandel Screening Room. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
