Divine Intervention

Remade in 1996 as The Preacher's Wife, The Bishop's Wife, a 1947 romantic comedy that stars Cary Grant and Loretta Young, was originally adapted from a Robert E. Sherwood novel. Grant plays the angel Dudley who answers the prayers of a bishop (David Niven) who needs assistance in building a new cathedral. Set in New York at Christmas time, the film is a holiday classic. It screens at 10 a.m. at the Capitol as part of Cleveland Cinemas' movie and a brunch program. Area restaurants will have specials after the screening. Tickets to the movie cost $5. (Niesel)
