The latest exhibition at the Cleveland Print Room pairs Cleveland-based artist Melindo Placko with New York artist and collector Nigel Maister. For Double-Edged, Placko has created a series of collage drawings using the cyanotype photographic process, while incorporating elements of drawing and text. Her imagery includes anatomical drawings and dream-like scenes of rain and roadways. Maister's portion of the exhibition features diptychs from his "tight.word.lit" series. Maister's work explores themes of narrative through the use of found, snapshot photography, mostly from the 1980s and later. Using these outdated images as his raw materials, Maister explores both implied and explicit narratives, "manifested in emotional, formal, aesthetic, intuitive and intellectual expression." Double-Edged opens tonight with a reception from 5 to 9 p.m. and remains on view through Aug. 19. Admission is free. (Usmani)
