Eat Drink Watch Oscars

When: Sun., Feb. 24, 4:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $100
Watch the Cleveland premiere of 2012 Swiss Oscar nominee Sister at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque before joining Cleveland’s cinephile meet-up group, Ciné Arts Cleveland!, for “Eat Drink Watch Oscars” (the event title is a nod to Ang Lee’s Eat Drink Man Woman), an Academy Awards celebration and three-course meal at Nighttown (the six entrée offerings include a Daniel Day-Lewis-inspired lobster dish and “Ang Lee’s secret vegan option,” which sounds terrifying). Admission price includes the film screening, food, booze, and film-fanatic camaraderie at Cleveland’s poshest jazz club. A separate “special quiet room” will be reserved for those who wish to watch the awards ceremony without extraneous editorializing on Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence’s alleged starlet feud. Tickets are $100 ($50 of which is a tax-deductible Cinematheque donation); attendees will also receive complimentary 2013 memberships to Ciné Arts Cleveland! and Music Cleveland!. The film screens at 4:30 p.m. and the Nighttown extravaganza starts at 7 p.m. (Franklin)
