In Sorrows & Rejoices, an exiled poet returns to South Africa to die. There, the two women who loved him — one white, one black — share memories, regrets, and feelings. Most of all, however, they share hope for the future of their country. It's a post-apartheid tale (presented by Ensemble Theatre and making its Cleveland premiere tonight) that's a bit heavy on symbolism at times. But the piece, penned by South African playwright Athol Fugard, is also lyrical and moving.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Feb. 11. Continues through Feb. 26
