Electric Six/My Jerusalem/SeXtuppleX

When: Wed., Oct. 16, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $12 ADV, $14 DOS
When Motor City garage rockers Electric Six emerged in 2003 to deliver underground hits such as "Danger! High Voltage" and "Gay Bar," it didn't seem like the band would have any staying power. And yet 10 years on, the guys are still recording and touring, albeit with a completely different line-up. The one constant has been eccentric frontman Dick Valentine, a guy who worships at the musical altar of glam rockers Freddie Mercury and T. Rex. The band's new album, Mustang, opens strong with the damaged disco tune "Nom de Plume" and then never lets up, offering sneering vocals and a blend of distorted guitars and synths that sounds like an homage to anthemic '70s rock.
