Eric Clapton

With Robert Randolph & the Family Band. Saturday, May 31, at Blossom Music Center, Cuyahoga Falls.

In his 2007 autobiography, Eric Clapton writes, "I have been trying to retire all my life, constantly vowing to give up the road and just stay at home." Apparently he's not ready to give it all up yet. The rock legend is now on tour in support of last year's Complete Clapton, a two-disc retrospective that spans his work with Cream, collaborations with blues greats like B.B. King, and tons of solo material. Clapton sticks to familiar tunes onstage — like "Wonderful Tonight," "Tears in Heaven," and "Layla" — but he always manages to surprise with an old blues cover or a Blind Faith relic. And at 62, Clapton is still in great form, thanks to years of sobriety and a tireless dedication to making his guitar sing.
