Erin O'Brien, author of The Irish Hungarian Guide to the Domestic Arts will be at Mac's Backs Books on Coventry (1820 Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights) on Saturday, March 24th at 7 p.m. The Irish Hungarian Guide is a gonzo housewife's guide to appliances, recipes, marriage, sex and cleaning products. A misfit Irish-but-not-Catholic girl from Cleveland's west side, O'Brien’s essays are funny and sophisticated, projecting triumph through the lens of the domicile without blinking when sorrow fills the screen. The right measure of quirk and earthy sex separate this book from the Erma Bombeck set, while O'Brien's dry Midwest humor ties it all together. Erin is the also the author of a novel, Harvey and Eck and wrote the popular Rainy Day Woman column in The Cleveland Free Times. The Rainy Day Woman essays and current writings can be found at The Erin O'Brien Owner's Manual for Human Beings blog----
