Every Time I Die

With Underoath. 6 p.m. Sunday, October 21, $20 (all ages). House of Blues, 308 Euclid Ave., 216-523-5383.

Ignore rumors that Every Time I Die is a hardcore, fashioncore, metalcore, or anything-core band. True, they came out of the Buffalo punk scene. And yes, guitarist Andy Williams has Black Flag bars tattooed on the back of his neck, and his life took a turn for the better when a friend gave him a tape with Slayer's Reign in Blood on one side and the Melvins' Ozma on the other. Having said all that — and if you haven't heard it, you'll just have to take our word for it — know that Buffalo is a lot like Cleveland, and classic rock just gets into your bloodstream. So punk past or no, the band's new album, The Big Dirty, is one of the rock records of the year. Yes, it's the kind of music you can go nuts over and crowd-surf too. But rock it does
