Tonight's fireworks extravaganza explodes over the Lake Erie shoreline to kick off Cleveland's annual Waterfront Festival. For the fifth straight year, the Flats Oxbow Association has hired Pennsylvania pyromaniac Chris Mele to design a 20-minute show to be launched at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River. The Independence Day celebrations continue tomorrow with free, self-guided tours of the Veterans' Memorial Bridge & Subway (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the corner of West 25th Street and Detroit Avenue), followed by the Old Angle Family Fun Festival (11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Malachi Church, 2459 Washington Avenue). The fest winds down on Sunday with the Bras Across the Cuyahoga 5K Walk & Run. Afterward, hundreds of bras will be strung across the river and auctioned to benefit the Northern Ohio Breast Cancer Coalition Fund (7 a.m. at the Nautica Entertainment Complex, 2000 Sycamore Street; $35). The fireworks go off at 9:45 tonight near Shooters on the Water, 1148 Main Avenue on the West Bank of the Flats. Admission is free. Call 216-566-1046 or visit
