They come from the remote northern end of Sweden and they carry psychedelic fruits and afrobeat drones. Goat, the great overseas freeform mystery, arrives in Lakewood tonight (and this may be the last chance for a long time to see them). Their music is somewhat hard to describe — there are traces of world music along the band’s commitment to, like, 1970s psychedelia at times. It’s safe to say that this is a band that must be experienced live, but don’t let that deter you from swan-diving into, say, Live Ballroom Ritual, which is a really cool album that covers a hell of a lot of ground. World Music, released in 2012, was the band’s first album, even though people living in small Korpilombolo, Sweden, had been playing under the name Goat for decades. World Music unleashed unto the world a beast that had been lying in wait. They’re here now. (Sandy)
