Good Jill Hunting

"Delightfully venomous" satire gender-bends two of Tinseltown's brightest studs.

Critics have hailed Matt and Ben as "one of the most appealing male-bonding stories since The Odd Couple." And they guarantee that, within a few minutes of Cleveland Public Theater's production of the comedy, you won't even care that two gals are playing the parts of best buds Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. With Nicole Perrone and Elizabeth R. Wood in the title roles, the play takes place in the guys' run-down apartment in 1995, as they struggle to write a screenplay. Lo and behold, the script for Good Will Hunting falls in their laps, and the 1998 Oscar for Best Screenplay is a red-carpet stroll away. "Acidic, funny, and affectionate," touted a New York Post writer. "Matt & Ben spoofs Hollywood's best friendship." What's next? A play about Paris and Nicole? Act One starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays, through Saturday, June 14, at James Levin Theatre, 6145 Detroit Avenue. Tickets are $10 to $15.
