The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque is going on a field trip this evening. They’ll be screening the Danish thriller A Highjacking at John Carroll University’s Dolan Science Center Auditorium. Not sure why they’re showing it out there — in conjunction with some sort of poli-sci seminar, perhaps — but it ought to be a terrific venue for one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2013. The movie centers around a Danish cargo ship overtaken by Somali pirates, and the the ensuing negotiations with the higher-ups at the Danish company who try to win back their ship even as the crew is systematically killed off. It’s a nerve-racking thrill ride, and a win for Danish writer-director Tobias Lindholm, who also directed The Hunt (recently in the Cedar Lee’s line-up). The film screens at 7 p.m. and general admission tickets are still $9. (Allard)
