Hair We Go Again

On a relatively balmy February night, Randy Passalacqua delivered his best rendition of Quiet Riot’s “Cum on Feel the Noize.” Too bad his upper register couldn’t deal with the high notes. “The melody killed my throat, man,” he groaned with a rasp afterward. “Maybe I’m better off doing Twisted Sister.” At Heavy Metal Karaoke, singers are invited onstage to perform with Hi-Fi Club owner Billy Morris and his band, which plays songs by Poison, Skid Row, and Morris’ old group, Warrant. Tin-eared spectators can check it out while chugging $5 pitchers of PBR. Says Passalacqua: “If Twisted Sister blows, there’s always the brew.”
