Heavy the Sea Staff Pick

In its first exhibition of 2017, Transformer Station hosts the first public solo show of London-based artist Esther Teichmann. A multimedia exhibition, Heavy the Sea includes large scale still and moving images, cyanotypes, layered photographs, paintings and three-dimensional sculpture. Raised in southern Germany, Teichmann earned an MA and PhD in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art. In 2017, a monograph of works and a book of essays will be published by Stanley/Barker. Heavy the Sea opens this today with a Members Preview from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a public reception from 7 to 9 p.m., and remains on view through Apr. 30. Admission is free. (Usmani)
