Hester Street, a 1975 indie film with two local connections (filmmaker Joan Micklin Silver and star Carol Kane are both former Clevelanders), returns to Cleveland this weekend in a new 4K digital restoration. The movie will show at 7 tonight and at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Admission is $11, or $8 for Cinematheque members and those age 25 and under. The film centers on a Russian Jewish immigrant couple whose marriage becomes strained as they attempt to assimilate.
