Holly Golightly

With the Brokeoffs and the Griefs. Wednesday, March 21, at the Beachland.

Holly Golightly has released 15 discs and too many singles and EPs to keep track of (2001's double album, Singles Round Up, collects a bunch of them). What's more, the Brit has collaborated with almost as many people as Willie Nelson, including the White Stripes on "It's True That We Love One Another" from their album Elephant.

In 1991, Golightly got her start as a member of the garage-loving Headcoatees, one of the many groups Billy Childish has created over the years to serve as vehicles for his prolific songwriting. In 1995, she released her debut solo record, The Good Things.

With a sound that's best described as cool jazz filtered through a post-punk aesthetic, Golightly's new side-project, the Brokeoffs, is a duo with her longtime bassist Lawyer Dave. Their debut album, You Can't Buy a Gun When You're Crying (which, by the way, is not even remotely true in Indiana, Wyoming, or Vermont) is set for release this month.
