Home Is Where the Art Is

1921392.t.jpg
Liz DeBellis pays her respects to the working American woman at today's 6 p.m. reception of her new exhibit, Domesticity as I See It, now on display in Massillon. The collection of ceramics, oil paintings, collages, and prints of subjects like coffee cups and birthday cakes symbolizes a woman's balancing act to keep home, family, and job in harmony. And DeBellis paints from a palette of only greens, teals, and browns to keep with the exhibit's color theme. "As an artist, I like to be challenged and to push myself," says DeBellis. "I want my art to be meaningful, not merely aesthetically pleasing." You can see Domesticity between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 2 to 5 p.m. Sundays, through Sunday, February 24, at the Massillon Museum, 121 Lincoln Way East in Massillon. Admission is free. Call 330-833-4061 or visit www.massillonmuseum.org.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sundays, 2-5 p.m. Starts: Jan. 18. Continues through Feb. 24, 2008
