Hoodie Allen

Long Island native Steven Markowitz (better known as Hoodie Allen) has seen his popularity rise thanks to the success of his latest single “Show Me What You’re Made Of,” which debuted earlier this month. His first full-length album is slated for release this summer. Last August, he released Americoustic, a collection of pop rap proving his general ability to fit guitar strumming alongside semi-sophisticated rhymes. Over the past several years, Markowitz has developed his ability to appeal to the college crowd; his performance at the University of Minnesota last September marking his largest show to date. Markowitz may not be a big name in mainstream hip hop, yet, but he has developed a rabid fan base over the course of his short career so this local show is highly anticipated. (Emily Votaw)
