Cowboys & Aliens has everything you could possibly want in an action movie: James Bond, Indiana Jones, and the director of Iron Man. And they all come together in the summer's wildest adventure, an old-fashioned western that also happens to include people-snatchin' aliens from outer space.
Daniel Craig plays Jake Lonergan, a wanted man with a mysterious past even he can't remember. Harrison Ford is a prick of a cattle owner who wants Jake dead. Eventually they band together to save the small town being attacked by the hostile aliens in laser-blasting spaceships.
Cowboys & Aliens can't keep up the energy for two hours, and the story sags after the terrific setup, but Jon Favreau keeps things moving with the same zippy flair that made Iron Man such a kick. It really doesn't add up to much more than cowboys and aliens duking it out in the Old West. But what else did you expect? --Michael Gallucci
