Il Volo at Nautica

Phone: 216-241-7500
Price: $39.50 to $79.50
Leave it to the three teenage Italian tenors of Il Volo to turn tweens onto classical music. The handsome trio — Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble — exploded onto the international music scene in 2009, after winning the Italian version of American Idol with big, polished voices that belie their complete lack of formal training. They’ve hit all the high spots since then: a recording contract, a gold CD, and the requisite PBS special. (Check out several versions of their signature "O Solo Mio" at The boys recently launched their second U.S. tour, which stops tonight at Jacobs Pavilion. When we caught up with 18-year-old Boschetto, he was recovering from pre-tour rehearsals. “We are preparing with vocal exercises,” says the young singer. “We study our music and songs every day.” Despite the performance pressure, the Bologna native declares that his love for the trio's music — a pleasantly commercial blend of pop and classical — hasn’t dimmed. “We started out this career thinking it would be really hard, and it is,” says Boschetto. “But we are doing this with passion. We are not thinking about business or just money, but we love what we are doing. It is the dream come true.” Tickets to tonight’s dream are set at $39.50 to $79.50 — fees not included — and can be purchased online or at the gate. An assuredly dreamy meet-and-greet package is $275. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m.
