Indigenous/Plateros

When: Tue., Oct. 2, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $16 ADV, $18 DOS
Famous as one of the only Native American rock singers and guitarists, Indigenous front man Mato Nanji is one helluva a bluesman. The band’s new self-titled album features a great collection of blues tracks that recall the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan. The titles of tracks such as “Free Yourself, Free Your Mind” and “Find Your Way” speak to the album’s themes of self-discovery and autonomy. Nanji, who also tours with the Experience Hendrix project, is also currently working on a new disc with Los Lobos guitarist David Hidalgo and North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson.
