This weekend, Harris Stanton Gallery’s Cleveland location debuts its 2nd Annual International Exhibition. Participating artists include Yuji Hiratsuka (Japan), Pierre Boncompain (France), Alexander Befelein (Germany) and Bernard Cathelin (France). The featured artist of the exhibition, Japanese printmaker, Yuji Hiratsuka, combines the methods of chine collé, and intaglio etching to create humorous images which whimsically draw from the ancient and the contemporary to express “the mismatched combinations and hodgepodge which is Japanese daily life.” His figural works combine the traditional Japanese ukiyo-e style with the edginess of 21st century life. An opening reception takes place from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with a gallery talk with owner Meg Harris about midway through the opening. The 2nd Annual International Exhibition remains on view through Dec. 14 during normal business hours. Free. (Usmani)
