It's Only Rock 'n' Roll Spring Benefit with Tower of Power/War/Wesley Bright & the Hi-Lites

When: Sat., May 11, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $20
Every year about this time, the Rock and Roll of Fame and Museum hosts a benefit concert for its education programs — certainly a worthy cause. The line-up isn’t usually anything spectacular, and this year is not different in that respect. But this year’s program does feature a handful of like-minded bands from very different generations. The headliner War was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2008. The ’70s band’s Latin-rock rhythms influenced generations of bands to come and the group’s top hits (“Low Rider” and “Spill the Wine”) are staples on classic rock radio. Supporting act Tower of Power is a veteran R&B act that’s never left the touring circuit, and locals Wesley Bright & the Hi-Lites are an upcoming old school soul band that puts on a terrific live show.
