Circuit des Yeux’s Haley Fohr has a history of breaking the rules of pop music, and with her new project Jackie Lynn she’s managed to knock down even more barriers than before. Fohr changed her stage name, appearance, and artistic persona to write and record a self-titled full length as Lynn, and it paid off — the record is easily her most brash and daring work to date, even considering the strikingly different nature of Yeux. Even when the instrumentals venture into unorthodox territory (“Chicken Picken,” “Alien Love”) it still retains a unique charm and conceptual flavor not usually pursued by solo artists. Jackie Lynn has allowed Fohr’s imagination to really come to live. Expect a folksy yet soulful and heartfelt performance, delivered in Fohr’s trademark baritone. (Shively)
