John Mayer/Phillip Phillips

When: Tue., Aug. 6, 7:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $36-$69.50
Pretty boy John Mayer has left a trail of broken hearts behind him during the course of his decade-long career. He's also sold a shitload of albums (more than 17 million worldwide) and has won seven Grammys. His middle-of-the-road blues/light rock typically doesn't have much of an edge to it. And yet his most recent album, last year's Born and Raised, fared better because it didn't try to do anything too fancy. Folksy numbers such as "Queen of California" and "Shadow Days" have a retro sound and recall Bob Dylan and CSNY. It's probably the singer's most cohesive album to date. Best known for the Mumford and Sons knock-off "Home," American Idol singer-songwriter Phillip Phillips opens the show. (Jeff Niesel)
