K. Voegele Replaces K-Fed

Local singer lands role on CW's One Tree Hill.

Bay Village native Kate Voegele will appear in a multi-episode run of The CW Network's One Tree Hill, beginning with the January 22 episode. Voegele, who recently relocated to Los Angeles, made the cut at an open-casting call.

"We wanted someone who could inhabit the character from an acting perspective — and obviously, someone who had a catalog of songs that we liked and felt would fit well on the show," says executive producer Mark Schwahn. "Kate came in to read for us, and she did a great job. Her personality was very infectious, and she seemed smart and kind and fairly fearless."

The singer-songwriter will play Mia, a singer-songwriter who finds new confidence after replacing her band's frontman, played by Kevin Federline, who turns into a real prick.

"One Tree Hill is a truly amazing opportunity," says Voegele. "TV has emerged as a leader in artist exposure, and I'm so lucky to be able to play new music on a hit show."

MySpace Records will re-release Voegele's Don't Look Away on January 22 to coincide with her onscreen debut. The song Voegele sings on the show, "Only Fooling Myself," will be released as a single.

Voegele is now on tour with singer Ben Lee.
